From "We're Just Friends"... to now..."We're Husband and Wife"
Sixteen years ago, I met Keith for the first time. I was dating his long-time childhood friend and we were all going out for the night. Keith rolled up in his Red Porsche 944, opened the door and picked Chris and I up. I was immediately impressed. Our friendship grew...mainly because Chris was my first true heartbreak and Keith was there to pick up the pieces of my broken heart, patch them back together, and protect it. We'd play sand volleyball until the lights quit working at the park, then we'd go get snocones and hang out at the house until no one could stay awake anymore, then everyone would sleep in, and we'd get up and do it all over again the next day. We did almost everything together...our close knit group of friends...which ironically, still included Chris.
Thirteen years ago, I fell in Love. I said, to most of my friends, "I will marry Keith Siebert and be Mrs. Kelly Siebert, one day!" We I was still in High School and like any love-sick teenage girl, I wrote "Mrs. Kelly Siebert" all over my empty note pages while day-dreaming in class. I don't know what happened or when the switch occurred from looking at Keith like a protective older brother type to a Love interest, but it happened! Like any couple, we had our ups and downs, ins and outs, breakups and makeups.
But in the end, we stood at the alter, in front of our family, friends and God and made promises to one another. Nine Years ago, I married my Best Friend! And, yes, Chris was in our wedding party! I guess I should thank him! The vows we made are not taken lightly and throughout the years, we have had to work hard to balance and maintain our promises. Sometimes it is easy and sometimes it is difficult. I like to think that the difficult times make those easy times extremely blissful. Either way, I regret nothing. As I sat back and reflected on our journey together, LATE last night, I couldn't help but smile and maybe even shed a tear of joy for the adventures, loves, losses, and moment's we had already shared as well as looking forward to the one's we have yet to embrace!
I wanted to do something exciting and FuN as a personal gift to Keith. My amazingly talented friend, Ashley just recently started her own photography business, Live, Laugh, Photograph. She had shown me some pictures she took of one of our other friends and I just couldn't help myself...I had to have my own pictures done. Apparently Boudoir Photography is coming back! Anyways, I have lost over 20 lbs since March and am starting to feel good about myself again, so I thought, "Why the heck not?" So, I beautified myself with a little help from Minx, MAC and VS and got ready for a new adventure! Ashley and I had so much fun shooting that she ran through an entire 4G memory card and an hour of time on one outfit, alone! All of the pictures she edited were perfected with the most artistic and tasteful vision. While I will not show you a plethora of photographs meant only for the eyes of the one I love, I will show you a few of my favorite portrait type photos! Thank You to Ashley for making me feel good about myself and for giving me the opportunity to surprise Keith with a little spice in our lives!
I can't wait to re-read this on our 25th wedding anniversary, and then again on our 50th wedding anniversary and then re-write some of my NEW memories of our life together.
