So, back in the day, there were no nurse practitioners, no receptionists, no substitutes...you got the doc or nothing at all. There was even a time where the doc would make house calls. Yes, believe it, it's true.
Well, I would like to think that Doc "G" has maintained some of those old school ethics. Now, he hasn't made house calls, but he is always intimately involved when it comes to the health and well-being of my child. HUGE shout out to Doctor Guetersloh.
Gav has been on this up and down sick/not sick, roller coaster. We can't seem to figure out what is causing his one and only ugly symptom. (I will spare you the TMI) Doctor "G" listened to my concerns, gave them some thought and offered his medical opinion and advice. After doing so, YESTERDAY, and comforting me in the fact that he is not concerned and does not want to run un-necessary testing unless we continue down this same path, he calls me up TODAY...YES, HE HIMSELF, calls me up to follow-up and check in on Gavin!! He could have had his NP or Receptionist call me, but he DIDN'T. He could have NOT called and just brushed me off as another "worry over nothing" mommy, but he didn't...he took the time, on his lunch break, to call me and check in on Gavin and to make sure that I was comfortable with the actions we were taking with regards to Gavin's health.
You don't find this kind of care, very often, in this fast-paced, technological world we live in today. So, I thought he and his level of "TRUE CARE" deserve a shout out...So, I will find a Margarita this afternoon and raise a class to Doctor Guetersloh. Here's to you Doc!
