About Me

My photo
I have a wonderful husband and bouncing boy, who is growing faster and faster as the days go by. I love to play with him and watch him learn and grow. My two boys are the things I am most proud of in this world and I love them to pieces...like father...like son!

A Whole New World

Well, it is official...we have successfully been through our first round of growing pains, and by growing pains, I mean TEMPER tantrums!! All of the sudden, out of no where, the tantrums appeared. Gavin has always been a very Happy-Go-Lucky baby. He would usually only cry if he was hungry or tired and was not one for whining or fussing. Well, not so much anymore!! We have progressed, overnight, to the falling to the ground, screaming, kicking, hitting down right fit. Astonished and dumbfounded, I had no idea what to do or how to react. After all, I had seen this kind of behavior from Two and Three year olds, back in the day, when I used to teach daycare, but never this early. Apparently, this is not abnormal and several of my friends are and/or did go through this stage with their One year olds. So, with the help and advice of my good friend Lauren, we bought a good parenting book and started in on the "Ut Oh" song and time out. After two solid days of consistent reactions with the "Ut Oh" song and time out, Gav has seemed to tapper off from his monstrous tantrums and is learning that consequences follow the words, "Ut Oh." We have shared our discipline choice with his sitter as well as our family members so that we can be as consistent as possible...consistency and repetition is the key! It does amaze me at how quickly they absorb and learn.
