About Me

My photo
I have a wonderful husband and bouncing boy, who is growing faster and faster as the days go by. I love to play with him and watch him learn and grow. My two boys are the things I am most proud of in this world and I love them to pieces...like father...like son!

Family Missed - Part I

HaPPy Fourth of July, 2010

The 4th is usually spent in Ohio with family. Due to some other travel plans this year and a visit to Ohio in September, we just could not take off and head up, this year. Our time spent up there with family is unforgettable. My cousin Jason always puts on an amazing fireworks show...Redneck N Boom. We always eat too much and sometimes drink to much. The kids have the best time running around the property, being free! It's something that has become pretty EPIC in the past few years and I think I heard that Jason's show was close to 26 minutes long this year...that's longer then some city fireworks! If you get a chance, check out the finale on youtube... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKs0Ekc-Hhk We keep telling him he does such a good job, he should do this for a living!

Well, since we were home bound and Keith was working on the 3rd, it was just Gav and I...fending for ourselves, making our own fun...despite the seemingly never-ending RAIN! Will we get to see fireworks or won't we...will it EVER stop raining or am I going to have to watch another movie or conjure up another bakery delicatessen? Anything to keep me from being bored while patiently awaiting our mini-retreat to Cedar Creek Lake. Well, the rain fizzled down to a sprinkle and Gav and I ventured out to find some fireworks!
We started at Central Park in Frisco...we were going to watch the fireworks from the baseball game...I heard they were supposed to go off pretty early and knew Gav needed to get some sleep for the remainder of the weekend. Well, we weren't there long because some IDIOTS, pulled up next to us and were drinking and shooting off handguns in the air, no less than 10 yrds. from us. Feeling very unsafe, with my two year old in tow, we drove off and called the city. Did they really think the bullets just disappeared once shot into the air?? We ended up driving over to the Ethan Allen parking lot, by the mall, and hung out, still waiting for the baseball game fireworks...but it turns out, the game was delayed for over an hour and a half for weather, so theirs were not going to go off until after midnight, if at all. BUT, while waiting, we did get to see some Fireworks from Stonebriar Country Club as well as The Colony. AND, of course, driving home, we saw them from everywhere, including our own street. Yes, fireworks are legal in our neighborhood...why, I will never know, but they are. Usually, Chey drives us nuts pacing and panting and barking at the mayhem, but thankfully, it did not last later than midnight this year. I did give her a tranquilizer from the vet, but it didn't seem to phase her. She was one freak out away from a heart-attack. Silly Dog! Needless to say, my two year old slept great...however, my 75 lb. Lab ended up in bed with me! Go figure!

So, tomorrow comes and so it brings the 4th and for the rest of our weekend, and for that, we will need a dedicated post. So, go get yourself a snack, take a break from you marathon reading and join me for our next adventure...
