As I was rushing through Tom Thumb last night, as I was on a mission for some poster board and markers and nothing else, I couldn't help but notice the endless amounts of food varieties we have available to us.
Seriously? Have you ever really looked down an isle at the grocery store and thought, hummmm, there are about 40 different kinds of peanut butter, ketchup, frozen pizzas, etc...Not to mention the endless choices of foods and snacks. There is always something for everyone. Then I got to thinking about the endless amount of thinking that goes into a grocery store. The endless number of R&D staff it took to come up with the products...microwave, freeze, add water, etc...easy...easy...easy, because everyone is on the go, all the time. Someone created the product, someone sold the product and someone designed the grocery store display to sell the product. Someone designed the layout for the grocery store isle so that it is organized and appealing and maximizes the amount of "junk" everyone will purchase..."junk" that they don't need and never intended on purchasing, but did because it was so conveniently placed.
Where is this coming from, you ask? I have no idea. Maybe it's because I have limited my food intake and have really been watching what I am eating and I was noticing all of the foods that aren't on my list. Maybe it is because it finally became aparent that we have a plethora of crap at our reach at a moment's grab! All of these thoughts bounced in my head all in a 5 minute, in and out, visit to one grocery store. Those of you who know me well, are not surprised by my bouncy thoughts. Those of you who don't know me so well, welcome to my little brain activities!
