Day One started out cloudy with the promise of rain!! We waited at Rudy's BBQ to watch as Keith got started. He made a quick stop to have his Mom sign the honorary hanker chief. Mom, Dad, Chuck, Nancy, Gavin and I were all there to cheer him and the other riders on!! As far as I know, the weather held out...until the end. We made our way to the finish line at Texas Motor Speedway and eagerly awaited Keith's arrival. We had heard the ride officials saying that they were going to start pulling riders off the course, due to inclement weather conditions, but we knew that Keith was about 5 minutes from the finish line...so we headed down the the finish. Just as we could see Keith round the corner to the finish, it started to pour down rain. We watched him cross the finish and then made a mad dart to the motor home. All of us, including Gavin, were soaked, but we got to see Keith finish and that was the important part!!!
Day 2 was scheduled to go into downtown Ft. Worth, but due to Tarrent County's health regulations with regards to the Swine Flu, the ride officials had to re-route the ride back into Texas Motor Speedway. Well, since the weather had gotten worse over the course of the evening, the ride officials decided to cancel the ride on Day Two. Keith was disappointed. I know he was feeling good and had found a good group of riders. He woke up pretty early this morning and to his surprise, there was no rain or no hint of severe weather. Needless to say, he was VERY disappointed that the ride was cancelled for some clouds! There's always next year!!
